Shishies, Melmo and I love Meee

As I am typing, Oak is asking for mama and dada from his crib. Yes, he is supposed to be napping, however, he is being very stubborn this afternoon and for the past 30 minutes has been asking for Brian and me or his "baba" (pacifier) which he continues to spit out of his mouth onto the floor. I blame Brian because he taught him how to do that (but it is pretty cute).

As abnoxious as he is being about not taking a nap, I can't help but love hearing his sweet little voice coming through the monitor. It is amazing me how just in the past few months Oak has really begin to speak more. He repeats or at least attempts to repeat most of what we say and has really started to speak on his own more. Brian thinks that everything comes out sounding the same, but I can definitely tell what he is saying (most of the time). Thought we'd share some of our favorite things he says:

Melmo (it's Elmo, he has a hard time with the E sound), He loves the B, C's (ABC's but always seems to forget the A), If you ask him his favorite letter He yells "Y" with much enthusiasm, He loves animals, do (dog), shishies (fish), Cincy (my sis's dog quincy), Graff (giraffe) peesh (sheep), Coocie (cookies), Thucks (trucks), Cool and Carkee (Cole and Carly, Oak's Cousins), If you ask him his favorite book he says Bable (Bible).

One of the cutest things that he does is when we say "I love you" he yells Meeee?!?!? He says it with such joy and excitement like he just can't grasp that he is the recipient of such love. I love this because it always makes me think of the way God loves me.

Sometimes I get caught up in our everyday lives, especially with the move and waiting on our house, that I forget that I am the recipient of the greatest love that exists. I hear God say "I love you" and I respond yeah, I know, or love you too and for get the fact that the God that created everything loves meeee!!! I should respond with that same joy, excitement and awe that Oak does.

It's amazing that in his short little 19 months, Oak has taught me so much about my relationship with God!
