Thirty, flirty and thriving

Only a few tears were shed as I left my 20's thanks to my amazing husband and son. I had an awesome start to my 30th year.
Oak and I spent my birthday at the pool with our friend Hannah and her daughter Anna Lewis. Taking Oak to the Y pool is one of my favorite things to do. He loves their baby pool and loves to go under the water! We always get a snack of animal crackers and juice. His favorite thing there is he spray ground! Basically it is a bunch of sprinklers coming from the ground. Oak can spend hours in there. I love watching his face while he is there. He runs around squealing from sprinkler to sprinkler.
I thought Brian, Oak and I were going to go out to eat just the three of us, but he had planned for my family and friends to surprise me there! It was such a wonderful surprise. He even took care of Oak while i got to eat. I really had no idea that he planned this! Very sneaky.
It was such a great night and could have ended there, but oh no the surprises kept coming. When i got home there was my present, my iPad!! I was so excited and i had no idea that it he was going to get it!
It was a wonderful way to begin a new decade. I still can't believe that I am 30, but I welcome the 30's and can't wait to see what they bring!

With 2 comes...
On June 3, 2008 our lives were forever changed with the birth of sweet little Oak. On June 3, 2010 our lives again were changed with the welcoming of Oak's 2's. With the age of 2 has come so many amazing things!
Imagination- Oak has an UNBELIEVABLE imagination! He loves to "tend" (pretend)! He has two imaginary friends, clown and wolfpack. I took him to see Ronald McDonald preform on his birthday and since he has been obsessed with clowns. He walks around with clown, he pretends to juggle with his clown, even loses his ball and has to find it, clown sometime sleeps in his bed. It sort of creeps me out a little bit considering I find clowns rather scary. He loves the wolfpack and carries him around. They play hide and seek often. He also enjoys playing the officer game. He pretends to be an officer or firefighter and rides around giving people tickets or putting out fires. My favorite is when he pretends to climb a ladder and save a cat.
Vocabulary-The kid can talk! It's unreal how is vocabulary has gone from just a few words to being able to form sentences and carry conversation. This has been one of my favorite things because I feel like each day he says something new.
Independence- Oak is so independent now. It sort of borders on defiant, but he's 2, right? I am constantly hearing "No mommy help" or "by self'." He loves to do things by himself.
We took him to see the fireworks on July 4! He loved it and was terrified at the same time. He wouldn't let go of me. We took him again on the 5th and he just wanted to sit by himself. He is constantly walking around saying "boom, boom, boom."
Fashion- He will only wear shirts with characters, like Batman, Elmo, Thomas, Spiderman, Diego, Cars. Seriously, he has no idea who these people are but will only take one off to put another one on. We are very thankful for our handy-me-downs that have supplied his wardrobe.
All in all we have embraced these 2's and are really enjoying all the changes they are bringing. We hope that they don't turn to terrible.
