I often have "one of those days." Days where I am simply just flighty and forgetful. I'm sure many of you can relate. Today was different though. It wasn't like going grocery shopping at Walmart checking out and realizing my wallet was in my diaper bag and not my purse, hearing "beep" and realizing that Oak was locked in the car with both sets of keys, or forgetting that there was chicken boiling on the stove till it catches on fire.
It was one of those hard mommy days. A day where Oak and I just didn't seem to be on the same page. Oak and I both woke up with runny noses and what seemed to be on the wrong side of the our beds. His favorite word seemed to be "no" followed by uncontrolling whining and flailing. An impatient mommy and a very whiny toddler is not a good combination. With the help of Elmo and Handy Manny we did make it through.
I seem to be waiting for these hard days to become few and far between, however, I was reminded by a friend the other day that for the rest of our lives some days will be good and some days will be bad.
I find comfort in the fact that tomorrow is a new day and am reminded of the verse Lamentations 3:22-23, "Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is they faithfulness."
Even on the hard days, I love being Oaks mom.

Dee Jees
Oak can't quite vocalize everything that he wants so when he does something and wants to do it again he always puts his little pointer finger up to his face which translates to one more time.
We see this many times a day. He eats a cookie and immediately his little finger goes up meaning he wants one more. He likes to watch youtube videos of train whistles and after each one his little finger shoots up. We finish reading a book and he wants one more so he puts his finger to his cheek. It is really super cute.
Each night when I put Oak to bed we always say a prayer, rather I pray and Oak just lies beside me. Tonight, however, I asked Oak if he wanted to pray instead of me and he said his well-known enthusiastic "uh-huh." I said Dear and he said "Dee" and then I said Jesus and Oak said "Jees" and I said Thank you and he said "Tank ou" and I said Amen and Oak said "men." As soon as we were finished his little hand went up to his cheek and he wanted to do it again! We must have talked to Jesus 15 times saying the same prayer each time!
I just thought how amazing it was to have this little guy who loves trains, cookies and books to know that there is something so good and so sweet about talking to Jesus that makes him want to continue to do it! It is my prayer for Oak that he will continue to find the joy and peace that comes with talking to Jesus.

Snow Day!!
For those of you who know me that I hate cold weather (and that might be an understatement) so hearing that we were going to have a foot of snow, I might have been the only person in our entire state that might have not been excited about it!
Pre-Oak, I would have used the snow day to stay on the couch drinking coffee and reading a book (btw...just finished the second book in the Yada-Yada House of Hope series..very good) avoiding at all cost going outside.
Apparently when you have a kid you have to do things that you hate just so you can see that sweet smile on their face! Come Sunday we were all decked out in our winter best (Oak's were all borrowed b/c I was hoping this day would never come) and heading down the slopes in the Lanuti's neighborhood. In the words of CJ we were skipping church so that we could go sledding.
Seeing Oak and Joelle Lanuti (future wifey) riding on that sled was just the cutest EVER!! If you listen closely on the video you will hear be slightly freaking out! It just might have been my favorite snow day of my entire life! Even though my days of "indoor" snow days might be a thing of the past, they have been replaced with lots of layers and the sweetest smile of the sweetest little boy in my life! Here's to more snow days!
